News from the Peace Agreement in Colombia

Good news from Havanna: On Wednesday, the 24th of August, agreements on the last remaining topics of the Peace Agreement Agenda were achieved.

As you know since the end of the year 2012 the Colombian government and the FARC are negotiating for peace. Since then, they have reached an agreement on the following most important topics: rural development, rebel participation in politics and policies for combating drug trafficking, transitional justice measures related to the conflict as well as reparation for victims and the supervision and realization of the topics of the agreement.

The document about the peace agreement covers almost 300 pages and is now available for all Colombians, who the 02nd of October will vote in a plebiscite whether the agreement should be accepted or not.

Further to this, since monday 29th of August, a bilateral permanent cease-fire deal between the Colombian Government and the FARC-EP is confirmed.
